Beginning of Life
I support women during the transition of pregnancy to parenthood who believe in using natural methods because they realize that birth is a natural process.
NEW MOMS & DADS
The birth of your baby is a time of great joy and celebration. The following months are very important because during this period the foundation of the family unit is created. Mom needs to take the time to heal and nurture herself and both parents need to spend quality time bonding with their baby. In ancient times the new mom would be supported by the community. However, today that isn’t the case for many women. They feel overwhelmed because they are unsure, uninformed, and exhausted—a combination which can lead to anxiety. It takes time and patience for the body to recover and there are many natural remedies and holistic therapies that will support everyone through this phase. Honouring yourself, resting, asking for support, and allowing time for the family to bond will make this transition peaceful and joyful.
Many women experience being sore for a couple of weeks after birth. If she had an episiotomy or a C-section, healing will take longer. Discomfort such as increased bleeding or pressure on the uterus and vagina will arise when she is doing too much. Resting the body, incorporating certain essential oils in a sitz bath, and applying compresses will speed recovery and relieve the symptoms.
As the uterus contracts to its normal size many will experience contractions which can last anywhere from a few days up to six weeks. Breastfeeding will cause the uterus to contract to its normal size more quickly. Natural remedies such as applying specific essential oils and herbal tonics will help the uterus to relax and return to its normal size.
After birth there are rapid hormonal changes that occur in the body. This is why resting is so important. Staying calm, eating nutritious meals, drinking lots of water, and being gentle on yourself will bring harmony into all the body’s systems. Also, there are specific essential oils and herbal remedies that can be incorporated that will help to rebalance your hormones.
EXHAUSTION & INSOMNIA
Feeling exhausted and not being able to sleep can occur at any stage of pregnancy and is common with a newborn. Many are up frequently through the night and then try to do too much during the day resulting in exhaustion. Some women get so out of balance that they are unable to sleep. Resting often and taking naps when you can will increase your energy. When nursing the baby take the time to relax and enjoy the experience, this can be quite restful. Adding certain essential oils to a bath, massaged onto the body, or diffused in the home will relax the mind and body so that sleep comes easier.
Breast and nipple care is very important for the comfort of the mother and the health of the baby. Cracked nipples are quite common and very painful. Massaging specific oils over the nipple and areola area will relieve chapping and soreness, but it is important to remember to wash the oil off the nipples before nursing. Another way to toughen your nipples is to rub a dry wash cloth quickly over them. Some women have difficulty nursing and don’t produce enough milk for the baby. There are natural remedies that can be tried to increase milk production. However, if problems continue it is important that she go to her health care provider or a lactation specialist.
STRESS & ANXIETY
Having a baby is very exciting and stressful. The couple may doubt their ability to take care of the baby or wonder if what they are doing it right. Couple this with exhaustion and you’ve got a recipe for stress which can lead to anxiety. This is the time to rest, recover, and know that there is no one judging you but yourselves. Sleep, rest, baths, holding your baby, being outside, and eating properly will help you both feel better. Coaching, energy techniques, herbal teas, and specific essential oils blends can be used that will help to quiet the mind and calm emotions.
Often women’s emotions are all over the place. The emotions are similar to PMS except magnified tenfold and this can lead to not feeling stable. This is very common and it is because of the changes going on in the body, especially the hormones. It is important to know that it takes time to heal and for the hormones to stabilize. While you need peace and quiet, having supportive people around can make a lot of difference. Balance is the key here. There are many natural remedies, energy techniques, and support that can be incorporated to bring relief. Ask for help because you don’t need to suffer.
Sometimes it feels that you will never stop crying and you don’t even know why. Or this can be a time when every emotion seems magnetized. You’re exhausted, your body is sore, you feel fat, the baby won’t sleep and so you cry. Many women feel this way and it is a way for the body to move stored energy. Crying releases a lot of energy which is good both physically and emotionally. Being in nature has tremendous effects on the mood and it’s a good place to have a good cry. Just remember to let it out.
BONDING WITH BABY
Spending time bonding is the most important thing a mother and father can do with their baby. You have been carrying this precious being with you for months and there is no reason to stop. Hold your baby, look into each others eyes and marvel at your blessed creation. Rest, peace, and calm is what you all need right now so take this time together. The calmer you are, the calmer the baby will be and the easier the bonding process will be.
INTIMACY WITH PARTNER
Many couples go through challenges after the baby arrives. Some women often want sex while others have no urge at all. These issues are complex and aren’t easy to communicate which is why it is so important that they be discussed. It could be hormonal fluctuations, exhaustion, or afraid sex will hurt. Many men are unsure how to approach their partner and feel disconnected. Coaching, using natural remedies and letting go of old patterns can shift both partner’s perspectives and bring harmony back into the relationship.
Every woman’s mood will fluctuate after delivery of the baby. However, there is a difference between feeling funky and depression. It’s important to express what you are feeling and to have a supportive partner who listens. Coaching, natural remedies, and energy techniques can help when you are feeling low, but if it escalates you must seek medical attention.
CREATING A CALM, SAFE HOME
Your home is your sanctuary and everyone deserves to feel grounded, calm, and peaceful. Create the perfect mood by diffusing essential oils in your home, listening to beautiful music, having fresh flowers, and by being organized. It doesn’t cost much and the changes will be powerful.
QUIET TIME & SPACE
The arrival of the baby is an exciting time and often there are many people who wish to come over for a visit. Both parents will want to introduce their beautiful baby, but people constantly coming over to the home can be very exhausting. Plan visits carefully so that you don’t tire yourself and honour the family. It’s important to remember that peace and quiet will help you heal and set the foundation for a healthy family life.
Sometimes Dads can feel left out because of the time Mom and baby are spending together. He may feel excluded because he can’t do what you do for the baby or he may miss you. It is important to stay open so this does not happen, communicate and be honest with each other. Include him in everything you can and encourage him to be attentive to the baby. This will help him to bond with the baby and give you time to rest. This is a very important time for the family and will set the foundation for a healthy family life.
SUPPORT FOR MOM & DAD
Do you have people that you can call on for support? Often new parents do not live near their relatives, leaving them feeling isolated and unsure with the arrival of the baby. It is so important to have a support team in place to help when you bring the baby home. If no one is near then organize people to do the chores so that you both can rest and bond with the baby. Hire a cleaning service, use a diaper service, and have some of your meals prepared for a month or two. Having a support person such as a coach to talk to will help you both move peacefully through this transition.
Balance is the key to living a calm and peaceful life. We all know when we are out of balance, we feel constricted, life doesn’t flow easily, and we can feel frustrated. Did you know that when you are balanced the body will heal faster? Balance creates a calm and peaceful environment for the family. Diffusing specific essential oils will create a happy calm mood and sleeping, eating well, movement, and laughter will create a balanced home environment.
Many homes are toxic and often no one even knows. There are many cleaning and beauty products that contain toxins that are harmful and are effecting the health of our families. It is important to remove toxic and synthetic cleaning products from your home and replace them with natural alternatives. The skin is the largest organ of the body and everything you apply to it is being absorbed into you and the baby. Use pure and natural soaps and lotions to ensure optimal health for everyone. There are many natural remedies that can be used to bring relief for the baby that suffers from diaper rashes, teething, colic, fussiness, colds, and coughs. Having natural alternatives will be a win win for everyone.

I think anyone suffering from grief and loss could benefit from what she has to offer.”

Janet Katalinic“Not only does Robyn have an innate sense of understanding what it means to suffer loss and have compassion for the topic of grief based on her own vast personal experiences but she has an amazing arsenal of coping strategies that she draws upon to help you with your own individual situation such as she did when helping me with coping with my ailing mother. In particular, she has helped me be self-aware and control the way I react to my mother to keep peace within myself rather than fight a situation that can’t be changed. This has been both very healing and inspiring, allowing me to spend my energy in a more positive, meaningful way.”
Just as the fern gently unfolds to expand into its beautiful fullness, our hearts are spiralling into the truth that we are one.
